Reamus

Because I am unable to post on that sight. I will post here.
It was an incredibly beautiful blog. I can almost smell the Mississippi mud.
This is an area of U.S. history that I did not know about and will have to do some research. The Civil War, though fought many years ago, is still a bit of a ghost to this country.

My home town is on the Mississippi. Another connection.

Thanks Reamus. If you ever publish a book on your travels, I want a signed copy!

Sorry about the comments section, somehow I managed to change the default and it was shut off!

I apologize since you are a loyal reader. Thank you very much for the kudos. The pieces I am posting now are rewrirtes of previous travel e-mails to friends and family. I started the blog so that I might post as I travel (which I will be doing again in April). It has turned into more of a place to post these essays now and I am not sure what will become of it, but I will try to keep these things coming once a week or so until the. The things I write on the road are written more quickly and will likely not even be all in English as I am attempting to do now.

A puzzle, huh?

Thanks again. The comments are back on, I hope!

One other thing...you said something about that war being a bit of a mystery...it is actually referred to by many historians as the "unwritten war" since, except for the contemporary accounts of soldiers, surprisingly little was writen while it was fought. The sources were "iffy" because of that since was they were often only personal recollections.
